What SeeWhatIf is
SeeWhatIf is a free, independent healthcare cost reference tool for Singapore. It presents hospital bill data published by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in an accessible format to help people understand potential costs before they need care.

Every medical situation is different. Your actual hospital bill will depend on your specific condition, treatment plan, complications, hospital, doctor, ward class, and insurance coverage.
Data accuracy
All cost data comes from the MOH Bill Size Benchmarks and data.gov.sg. We present the 25th to 75th percentile range (the middle 50% of actual bills) for Singapore Citizens in public hospitals.
Costs shown are:
- Inclusive of GST
- After government subsidies (for Ward C and B2)
- Before MediShield Life, Integrated Shield Plans, or MediSave payouts
We update our data when MOH publishes new benchmarks. Between updates, actual costs may have changed. The data period for the current dataset is January to December 2023.
Personalisation estimates
The age, gender, and salary inputs on scenario pages generate contextual estimates (salary impact, risk factors). These are rough calculations for illustration, not personalised medical or financial assessments.
Fun scenarios
Fun scenarios (zombie bites, durian attacks, etc.) are fictional. The cost estimates are based on the closest matching real medical treatments from the MOH dataset. They are meant to make healthcare cost awareness more engaging, not to trivialise medical care.
Intellectual property
The design, code, narratives, and scenario mappings on SeeWhatIf are original work by Keith Teo. The underlying cost data is published by MOH and is publicly available.
Limitation of liability
SeeWhatIf is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any decisions made based on the information presented on this site, including but not limited to healthcare, insurance, or financial decisions.

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
